A project giving young people access to their school nurse via mobile devices has attracted the attention of the Department of Health (DH). Wendy Nicholson, the DH professional officer for school nurses, is to meet local school nurses, students and staff at Judgemeadow Community College, one of three pilot sites where Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust has been testing the school nurse messaging service. Young people can speak to a school nurse by text message, or through a secure downloadable app. The service is to be rolled out to all students aged 11 to 19 in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland from March.
