A new writing campaign from the Anne Frank Trust, an e-safety tool for students with autism and awards for the best employers for school and college-leavers are among the SecEd At a glance headlines for June 5, 2014.

A new writing campaign has been launched to mark the 85th anniversary of the birth of Holocaust victim Anne Frank, who was born on June 12, 1929. The Anne Frank Trust UK is running the year-long campaign for students aged 13 to 15, inviting them to help create the world’s largest digital diary by uploading one or more written or filmed entries to a dedicated website. The site contains downloadable teaching resources for key stages 2 to 4 English, PSHE and citizenship, as well as an assembly plan to help schools mark the anniversary. An online resource offering practical advice and teaching activities to help secondary schools tackle internet safety with students with autism has been unveiled. The STAR Toolkit has been developed by Childnet and Leicester City Council, in collaboration with three schools in the city. The resource helps teachers to tackle issues such as cyber-bullying, contact by strangers, and exposure to inappropriate content. Visit: www.childnet.com/resources/star-toolkit
