Effective internal communication in schools

Effective communication in school is vital, right down to the seemingly small yet vitally important messages about the running of the school. Nathan Burns looks at five ways we might ensure all staff – and therefore all students – are kept informed

Schools are huge hubs of communication. Between students and staff, there is a constant flow of messages being passed back and forth. It is crucial that these messages are passed along speedily, but also accurately.

This article explores why sometimes this may not happen, the impact that inaccurate communication can have, and how we can prevent this happening in the first instance.

 

Picture the scene...

Is football on after school? Is the school field open today? Which areas are out of bounds at break time? What day was non-uniform? These are all questions we may have heard around school on a daily basis. They also seem like easy questions to answer, too. Surely, you, as the teacher, know about football after-school? Surely you can remember which day is non-uniform day?
