Win a farming weekend for your students

Schools are being invited to apply to send a group of their students on a weekend experience on a real working commercial farm at Llysfasi in North Wales.

It is part of a national food, farming and environment competition run by LEAF Education, a sustainable food and farming body, and Coleg Cambria Llysfasi.

The annual competition is based around promoting farming and food production as a potential career path for students. Schools can apply to send a group of key stage 4 students. The theme of this year’s competition is: “Drones – the farmers of the future?”.

Seven winning schools will be selected to attend and during the weekend they will be immersed in activities including milking cows, handling lambs, visiting the animal centre, feeding calves and tractor driving.

They will also participate in class-based work looking at the science and technology important to farming today. The seven schools will compete in a number of tasks, with the winning school being crowned “Innovation School of the Year”.
