This free-to-download six-page sponsored supplement discusses the digital and employability skills that are essential for the workplace and modern life, both now and into the future.

We ask how the new Pearson Edexcel GCSE (9-1) in Computer Science – which is being taught from September 2020 – can help teach students these key skills – such as coding and programming, problem-solving, interpersonal skills and more.

The qualification also offers innovative on-screen assessment and the supplement considers how this will work in practice, while also outlining the range of topics that the GCSE course covers – from computational thinking and data to awareness of emerging trends in computing technologies and the impact of computing on individuals, society and the environment.

The supplement comes alongside a special episode of the SecEd Podcast, in which a number of experts will be discussing the teaching of digital skills in schools. The podcast published on September 16 and is available via www.sec-ed.co.uk/knowledge-bank/podcasts/1
