Ofsted and the curriculum:
Click here to watch this webinar on catch-up
This webinar – which took place on October 3 and which is now available to watch back on catch-up – featured an expert panel including colleagues who have gone through Ofsted inspection this year.
We discussed how each of their inspections had gone and offered practical ideas for effective curriculum planning through the lens of Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework.
We asked what Ofsted focused on during its visits when it comes to curriculum intent, implementation and impact, including the kinds of questions they asked and common trends.
We also looked at other elements including subject deep dives and the kind of preparation that had stood the schools in good stead – not least when it came to the 90-minute phone call. The webinar is full of practical tips and insights and we also took a number of questions from the live audience.
The webinar was hosted by SecEd editor Pete Henshaw and our guests were:
- Matt Bromley, Bromley Education (SecEd’s resident curriculum expert and author of School and College Curriculum Design)
- Paul Ainsworth, Director of School Improvement, Infinity Academies Trust, Lincolnshire (involved in several recent inspections)
- Clare Duffy, Deputy Principal (teaching and learning and CPD), Uppingham Community College, Rutland (last inspected in March)
- Pete Taylor, headteacher, Audenshaw School, Manchester (last inspected in March)
The SecEd Webinar takes place once every half-term and is free to access or watch on catch-up. The next edition will take place on Tuesday, December 5 when the theme will be the attendance of vulnerable learners.
