China’s education system may be getting results that are the envy of the world but a group of Chinese teenagers travelled 5,000 miles just to experience lessons in Wales.

Fifty students aged between 13 and 16 travelled from HeFei, the capital of Anhui Province in Eastern China, to South Wales for a Winter School.

The students were hosted by St David’s Catholic Sixth Form College in Cardiff, which has been hailed a centre of good practice by Estyn and is one of the UK’s top performing 6th-forms.

St David’s, which already attracts students from Malaysia, Nigeria, New Delhi and China, organised the event to raise its profile on the international stage.
