Teach Too links industry and vocational education

Vocational education
A new initiative is aiming to bring together industry experts and those involved in vocational teaching and training.

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) scheme, entitled Teach Too, wants to see employers engaging “at all levels” with teachers.

The Institute of Education (IoE) and the Association of Employment and Learning Providers are to deliver the project which will encourage more occupational experts from industry to spend time “teaching their work” within structured vocational programmes.

Meanwhile, the idea is that teachers and trainers will be able to draw upon up-to-date industry experience as well as adding value to employers’ businesses.

Professor Chris Husbands, director of the IoE, said they would be working to publicise and develop existing effective practice and develop a national framework for Teach Too. He said: “It’s not just learners that can benefit from Teach Too – employers and industry can also gain from the knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm that the often younger people they are training can bring to their businesses.”
