Sixth formers put their leadership skills to the test

The leadership skills of 125 6th-form girls from across the country were put to the test during a three-day residential recently.

The students were attending the annual Young Leaders Conference hosted by the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) over three days at The Royal High School in Bath. The students came from across the organisation’s 26 schools.

The year 13 student leaders included head girls and senior prefects and the event was aimed at building skills such as teamwork, communication, time-management, presenting, negotiation, problem-solving and financial management. 

Competing in teams, the students had to design a fundraising event and marketing campaign to boost awareness of one of four chosen charities – Plan UK, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, Centrepoint, and The Wildlife Trust. Twelve prizes were awarded with the winning team pictured below with Helen Fraser, CEO of the GDST.
