The Royal Shakespeare Company’s (RSC) production of Macbeth reached thousands of young people through its free Live Lesson and Schools’ Broadcast last month.

Next up as part of the RSC’s online education programme will be Erica Whyman’s production of Romeo and Juliet, which will be streaming live on November 21 as part of the Free Schools’ Broadcast series.

During the live broadcasts, the play is broken up into three parts, rather than the usual two, with student activities between each section and live Q&As with actors from the company.

Last month, around 35,000 young people registered to participate in the 45-minute Live Lesson for Macbeth.
In the lesson, students were given insight into the creative process and interpretive choices that directors and actors make as they prepare to stage a new production. The screening of Macbeth (pictured) then took place on April 26 with around 250,000 students registering to watch the production.
