Daily bullying threat for many students

Nearly half of pupils are being bullied every day at school, new research suggests.

A survey conducted by the Diana Award charity also found that more than a third of young people were worried about returning to school this term because of bullying. More than half were worried about someone else being bullied.

The charity, founded as a legacy to Diana, Princess of Wales, carried out its research to capture young people’s concerns about bullying. Nearly 2,000 youngsters between the ages of nine and 17 completed the survey, 72 per cent of them secondary school pupils and 25 per cent of them sixth form students.

Many pupils said they had changed their behaviour, eating habits and appearance because of the bullying they faced.
