British Council seeks school ambassadors

Teaching resources
The British Council is seeking to appoint teachers and other school staff to operate as ambassadors supporting international education and global links.

The Schools Ambassadors programme is open to applications from “suitably qualified professionals” who would be commissioned and paid by the British Council for their work.

Ambassadors would operate as advisors supporting other schools with their International School Award applications or with the British Council’s international linking programme Connecting Classrooms.

Other tasks might include hosting workshops to help teachers embed the international dimension in their classrooms, representing the British Council at events or conferences, and advising on or testing materials and classroom resources.

Ambassadors may also help to support the British Council’s Language Assistant’s programme, which sees 2,000 foreign language assistants hosted in UK schools.

Applications are open to existing or former teachers, headteachers and local authority staff.

The deadline for applications is January 6, 2015. For more information on the scheme and how to apply, visit http://schoolsonline.britishcouncil.org/ambassadors
