At a glance headlines: March 19, 2015

A resource supporting employer engagement, new Apprenticeship courses, and a global poetry competition are among the SecEd at a glance headlines for March 19, 2015.

A “Connect Card”, offering a checklist of five key questions designed to stimulate discussion and collaboration between local businesses and schools, has been unveiled. The card’s creation has come after the National Foundation for Educational Research published research into the secrets behind successful school-business relationships. The report gives practical advice on how education organisations and local business can work together to make young people “work ready” and includes a number of case studies of best practice. The Connect Card and the report are available online and for a more in-depth focus on the report’s findings, see our Research Insights article here. You can also visit
