SecEd, in association with Master Travel, invites you to join fellow teachers and other school education professionals on a journey of a lifetime to Finland and Sweden from August 17 to 28, 2014.

A programme of private visits to schools, educational centres and meetings with school authorities across the land will enable you to meet teachers and children and to learn at first hand from two of the most successful educational systems in the world.

A highlight of the tour will be a meeting with Dr Pasi Sahlberg, the renowned Finnish educator and scholar. He worked as school teacher, teacher educator and policy advisor in Finland and has analysed education systems and reforms around the world. His best-selling book “Finnish Lessons: What can the world learn from educational change in Finland” won the 2013 Grawemeyer Award and Dr Sahlberg is currently Director General of CIMO (National Centre for International Mobility and Cooperation) at the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture in Helsinki.

This tour is also very much a holiday, immersing you in Scandinavia’s rich cultural heritage, great cities, awe-inspiring historical sites and uplifting landscapes. You will visit Finland and Sweden’s most iconic locations including the Old Town in Stockholm, explore delights of Helsinki, the Luostarinmaki and Turku Medieval Castle, an overnight cruise on board of Silja Line across the Baltic Sea, the Lappish village Inari and meeting with Sami, the indigenous people of Lapland.
