Case study: Developing a revision cycle for pupils

Wilson’s Revision Cycle was developed after a trial period involving students and staff at Hindley High School. Iain Wilson explains the research, evidence and process behind this work

In November 2016, I wrote in SecEd about ways to get a team on board with a new initiative, providing advice for during and after the implementation of any notable change (see further reading).

One of my most important pieces of advice was to make sure that any initiative is made personal, useful and, where possible, is a clear time-saver. Also, crucially, we must share the outcomes – no matter what.

Using this approach we have built a team at Hindley High School that is working towards a common goal and which is keen to share our research nationally and internationally.

It was this ethos that led to recent research on the Wilson’s Revision Cycle winning the Chartered College of Teaching’s 2018 key stage 4 and 5 research poster competition (you can download the winning poster via the download button above).
