Welcome to school film clocks up almost 48,000 views

A high-energy video made by a Cheshire school has become an unexpected internet hit.

The engaging First Day at Fallibroome is an 11-minute film featuring all 1,531 pupils and 209 staff at The Fallibroome Academy in Macclesfield.

When it went live this term it attracted more than 36,000 views in just five days, with viewers from as far afield as Australia, Abu Dhabi and South America. As SecEd went to press it had clocked up nearly 48,000 hits.

Meticulously planned over several months, the film starts with a nervous year 7 pupil arriving for her first day at school. As she walks into Fallibroome she is met by a host of welcoming students – singing, dancing, performing dramatic science experiments, playing sport and much more.

Most of the filming took place in the summer term but the final scene, where every pupil assembled on the tennis courts to spell out the phrase “You’ll love it here”, was filmed in early September.

The idea for the film came from head Francis Power, who saw something similar done by a Northern Ireland school four years ago. He said: “It was an ambitious project but everybody is so proud of it.”
