One of team GB’s many Olympics stars dropped into two classrooms simultaneously this week to discuss everything from meeting the Queen to writing an autobiography.

Tom Daley, who won an Olympic bronze medal for the 10-metre diving this summer, held a video conference with students from Monkseaton High School in Tyne and Wear (pictured above) and Central Foundations Girls’ School in east London.

The 18-year-old held the group video conference with Skype in the Classroom and gave a short talk about his recently published memoir, My Story, discussing the process of writing and developing a book.

Students from both schools got chance to ask questions and covered a range of topics, from London 2012 and meeting the Queen, to his favourite foods and what daily life is like.

Simon Thompson, assistant head at Monkseaton, said: “It was great that the students had the opportunity to speak with Tom who has achieved great success through his dedication to diving. The students really enjoyed the call and we’re hoping to take part in more Skype in the Classroom projects in the future.”
