Nominations are being sought for this year’s Pearson Teaching Awards ahead of the March 16 deadline.

The Silver Winners – the award finalists – are announced on Thank a Teacher Day on June 15, with a celebration event planned at the House of Commons in early July. The UK finals ceremony then takes place in the autumn when the Gold Plato winners will be unveiled. The ceremony is aired on BBC television.

The awards, which are celebrating their 20th year, recognise the life-changing work of teachers across the country.

Well-wishers can recognise a teacher via the Thank a Teacher initiative, which sends thank you cards to specific teachers.

Nominations for the Teaching Awards themselves can be made cross a range of categories, including SEN, new and experienced classroom teachers, school leaders, teaching assistant and lifetime achievement among others. There are also resources including posters on offer to help promote the awards in school.
