Workplace wellbeing toolkits

Staff wellbeing
Mental health charity Mind has launched toolkits for schools to help promote better wellbeing in the workplace. It is part of the charity’s Mental Health at Work website, which allows all types of UK employers and employees to access free tools, advice and information.

The education toolkits include a range of resources aimed at primary, secondary and higher education. They include tips on preventing work-related stress in schools as well as 10 steps that schools can take to support and protect staff wellbeing.

The website also includes a case study from Dr Challoner’s Grammar School in Buckinghamshire. Carole Black, assistant headteacher, advised: “Start small, by talking to staff and understanding the issues in your organisation – don’t be afraid of what you might hear and don’t be defensive if there are things you hear you don’t like.

"Make changes slowly and carefully – don’t make it an initiative – and build whole school and personable responsibility, as everyone has to play their part and contribute.”
