Search is on for young engineering innovators

SecEd’s sister publication, The Engineer, the UK’s longest running magazine for engineers, has begun its annual search for the UK’s next generation of engineering innovators.

The magazine’s Young Innovator trophy, which is awarded as part of its annual Collaborate To Innovate awards competition, was established to shine the light on the achievements of the next generation of engineers and to encourage young people to think about a future career in the sector.

Entries to this award are invited from engineering projects involving either individual students or teams of students. Shortlisted finalists are invited to an awards event in London, where they will have the opportunity to meet leading engineers from across industry.

Following his success, last year’s winner, the 14-year old developer of a facial recognition door entry system for vulnerable elderly people (pictured), was invited to take part in a package of work experience at awards partners including Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and Frazer-Nash Consultancy.
