Science Museums offer a range of digital resources

The Science Museum Group has made a range of digital resources available to support home education efforts.

The museums within the group are offering education resources and online access to its various collections.

This includes the Locomotion museum, National Railway Museum, National Science and Media Museum, Science and Industry Museum, and the Science Museum.

Teachers and parents can search the education resources, which include a number of easy experiments or demonstrations, by key stage, subject links, science topic or museum.

Activities range from science experiments using ingredients from the kitchen cupboard, to arts and craft activities including making your own periscope and pinball machine.

Meanwhile, free games and apps are also available designed to encourage children to think like a scientist. These include Launchball and Rugged Rovers as well as new addition My Robot Mission AR, a skills-building app where budding engineers can use augmented reality to build their own robot to help overcome future world problems.

Elsewhere, the Science Museum Group collections are open online, with users able to search for objects or read articles written by the museums’ curators. There is also the science museum blog and book club.
