Digital Xtra Fund

A charitable fund designed to engage more Scottish children in extra-curricular digital skills activities, has doubled in size to £100,000 for 2019.

Digital Xtra supports high-quality, extra-curricular digital and computing initiatives that inspire young people in Scotland to “understand and create with technology”.

It also aims to encourage young people to consider digital technologies as a possible career path.

A particular focus for the charity is on groups under-represented in the digital technologies industry or areas excluded through lack of resources or facilities.

This year’s funding will support 22 computing projects across the country, ranging from robotics and coding, to app development and the Internet of Things. The funding and in kind support comes from industry partners such as Skyscanner,JP Morgan, and the Micro:bit Educational Foundation.
