The six-month programme will begin early this year and is aimed at secondary schools and colleges to help them “form a clear idea of what they need to do to give students good career guidance” and to “shape strategies to support pupils in making informed choices about their futures”.
Careers leaders are a part of the government’s Career Strategy and the new programme has been funded by the government’s Careers & Enterprise Company (schools will receive a bursary upon completion).
Applicants can undertake most of the training programmes in their own time, online.
Chris Hunt, assistant headteacher at Aureus School in Oxfordshire, is supporting the programme: “It will be helpful to evaluate our current programme and see ways we can improve to ensure students have a varied range of experiences as they move through the school.”
