Gender, power, and masculinity: FREE & EQUAL?

Secondary students and sixth-formers will discuss themes of gender, power, and masculinity at the FREE & EQUAL? national schools’ conference in October.

Taking place online and face-to-face at Ringwood School in Hampshire on Friday, October 13, the conference is aimed at key stage 4 and 5 students but suitable for all secondary age groups.

Society as a whole as well as whole schools and individuals are struggling to respond effectively to misogyny, racism and LGBT+ phobia. Understanding these issues, how they intersect and what causes them is essential to building fairer, more inclusive schools.

This year, its third iteration, the conference will see a diverse range of speakers exploring gender, power and masculinity and challenging students to think for themselves, offering dialogue and triggering change in their schools and communities.
