Step Up, Speak Up

A range of educational resources have been published as part of a Europe-wide project to tackle online sexual harassment.

The resources – entitled Step Up, Speak Up! – have been issued by children’s charity Childnet as part of a practical campaign toolkit to address the issues of online sexual harassment among young people aged 13 to 17 years.

Defined as “unwanted sexual conduct on any online platform”, online sexual harassment among young people has been an increasingly present issue in schools and local communities.

The free resources aim to raise awareness and understanding of peer-on-peer online sexual harassment and encourage young people to report if they see it happening.

The resource includes four lesson plans covering ground rules, understanding, responding to and reporting peer-based online sexual harassment, a teacher toolkit, films aimed at raising awareness among young people, posters, assembly presentations and a template for a peer-led workshop.
