The STEM Insight programme, which gives teachers the chance to go on bursary-supported placements in industry or at a university to learn about STEM jobs and career paths, has just received the thumbs up from independent researchers.

Independent research undertaken by the Career Development Organisation concluded that the programme increases knowledge of STEM careers among participants, increases passion for the subjects, and improves teachers’ understanding of how to contextualise the curriculum with the latest STEM knowledge and real-world applications.

The programme, which is run by STEM Learning, featured in SecEd in October when we heard from STEM co-ordinator Rose Russell (pictured) about her experiences on the programme (STEM: Industry placements for teachers: http://bit.ly/2DjqHsM).

STEM Learning runs the National STEM Learning Centre in York. It also manages the national STEM Clubs and the STEM Ambassadors programmes.
