SMSC Quality Mark launched

PSHE
A Quality Mark has been launched to recognise excellence in spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) education.

The SMSC Quality Mark has been unveiled by the Citizenship Foundation and is intended to help primary and secondary schools in England and Wales review their provision and implement their vision for SMSC.

The quality mark consists of a self-review tool and schools can then apply to have their assessments validated by independent assessors at bronze, silver, gold levels. These experts will also offer guidance and training to support schools in raising standards in SMSC across the curriculum and all aspects of school development.

Once given, the award will be valid for three years and it is hoped that the quality mark’s website will become a place where schools can share best practice.
