Screwball! tackles a range of difficult RSE issues

A short comedy film is being published next week to help schools deliver relationships and sex education (RSE) for students in years 8 to 11.

Called Screwball!, the film follows two 17-year-olds as they navigate their way through preparing to have sex for the first time.

It has been produced by the not-for-profit video channel TrueTube, which creates films for use in PSHE, religious education and citizenship lessons.

Screwball! touches upon proper and enthusiastic consent, the pervasive influence of pornography, the normalisation of sexting, and the gaps in young people’s often-limited knowledge.

The characters model the “best possible behaviour” in the situation with good communication, a high level of care for one another, equality and mutual respect.

Screwball! is due to be published on Tuesday (June 27). Visit www.truetube.co.uk/film/screwball
