Exceptional school librarians honoured

Support staff
Five exceptional school librarians are in the running for the 2016 School Librarian of the Year title.

The contenders have all been honoured for their outstanding commitment to inspiring children to read.

They have also taught their students essential study skills, supported staff and reached out to their wider communities.

Sophie Chalmers is the librarian at Southbrook School, a special school in Exeter for 120 children aged between 11 and 16.

The library is housed in a converted double-decker bus, a stunning learning space with more than 3,000 books, DVDs, magazines, newspapers and games.

Rachel Knight, Sherborne Girls, Dorset

Rachel Knight has organised an eclectic range of events to bring books to life for students at Sherborne Girls, an independent school for 430 girls aged 11 to 18 in Dorset.
