Doc Academy issues free resources

A series of free resources are being published that use documentary to help bring key issues to life in the classroom.

Created by Doc Academy, the resources aim to support teachers in opening up conversations around social issues such as migration, climate change, racism, love and relationships, LGBTQ rights, extremism, Islamophobia, bullying and mental health.

The first of these launched last month and focused on climate change. It is available to secondary schools across the UK.

The scheme of work provides free clips from the documentary film Thank You for the Rain, with bespoke lesson plans for both English and geography across key stages 3 to 5.

Through the story of Kisilu – pictured – a Kenyan farmer experiencing the effects of climate change, students can begin a journey of learning that takes them from Kenya to environmental conferences in Denmark.
