Career Footsteps campaign targets vocational pathways

Careers guidance
A careers advice campaign has been launched aimed at showing young people that university is not the only route to a successful career.

The Career Footsteps initiative is being led by the vocational education charity Edge and will be based around careers visits by people with vocational experience.

The aim is to give young people insights into further education options such as Apprenticeships and other practical and technical qualifications.

The campaign is partnering with the Education and Employers Taskforce in order to connect schools and colleges with employers and professionals who are willing to work with them to inspire pupils.

Edge’s chief executive, Alice Barnard, said: “There are many paths to success and it is important students are aware that they have many options beyond going to university. We need better careers advice for young people so they can make informed choices for their future. Career Footsteps is a small move towards the professional face-to-face service we would like to see available in all schools.
