Alcohol education resources published

A set of free, curriculum-linked, alcohol education resources has been launched by the charity Drinkaware.

Aimed at PSHE classes, the resources offer five lessons for key stage 3 students tackling topics including the law on alcohol, health and social harms associated with drinking underage, the affects alcohol can have on emotional health and wellbeing, and the relationship between peer pressure and underage drinking.

It comes after the recent Drinkaware Monitor Report found that one third of young people aged 10 to 17 feel encouraged to drink by others and the average age of first being drunk is 13.9 years. Drinkaware has published the infographic to highlight these and other key findings.

The new resources include lesson plans, videos and homework activities and are available at www.drinkaware.co.uk/education
