Functional Skills Case Studies

In September 2010, the first non-pilot Functional Skills qualifications in English, mathematics and ICT will be launched.

Functional Skills are the core elements of English, mathematics and ICT that equip individuals to operate "confidently, effectively and independently" in education, work and everyday life.

With a growing number of training providers across England getting ready to deliver Functional Skills, either as standalone qualifications or as an integral part of Diplomas, Apprenticeships, GCSEs and Foundation Learning, the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) has produced four case study videos, which can be accessed here.

The videos complement the content of SecEd's recent Functional Skills supplement, which was published in association with the QCDA alongside the February 25 issue of the newspaper, and which is available to download in the supplements section of this website.
