Southall is a thriving 11-16 community special school based in Telford. In December 2009 the school was successfully OFSTED inspected, with an overall judgement of ‘satisfactory’ with some ‘good’ features.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding classroom practitioner of English for September 2010. Paramount to this appointment is the character of the teacher. For this reason we are seeking interest from all levels from NQT to Assistant Head and from all educational sectors.
The school is entering an exciting period where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the student’s lives.
We require somebody who can demonstrate excellent teaching and capacity to deliver a curriculum that is both aspirational and challenging. You will be responsible for the coordination of the specialist intervention programmes, functional literacy skills across the curriculum and teaching English up to GCSE. You must able to demonstrate/understand how children learn in the areas of literacy and language.
In return we can offer excellent facilities, a very experienced and supportive team and the opportunity to develop through a variety of responsibilities. We actively encourage the use of initiative and reward good teachers. We can offer an attractive salary package for the right candidate.
The school works extremely well with partners such as education Business Partnerships, Telford and Wrekin Culture Zone to devise a flexible vocational curriculum. Successes include “Excellence Award” from Shropshire Educational Business Partnership for work experience and “Gold Apple Award” for community environment project
If you wish to make a difference to the lives of young people, are passionate about working alongside some of societies most vulnerable student in an exciting and innovative school then we would like to hear from you.
